Paw Prints on My Heart: The Beginning of My Pet Sitting Journey

ree

Welcome to my very first blog post. Opening this space feels like cracking a brand-new journal—blank pages waiting for stories, laughter, and the lessons pets have quietly taught me.

For years, my days were ruled by meetings and inboxes. The corporate grind started showing on my face—tired eyes, skipped lunches, weekend headaches. One morning I stared at my emails and felt… nothing. No spark, no pride—just a knot in my stomach. So I did the scariest, most honest thing I could: I quit.

Silence didn’t suit me. I’m not built to sit still, and I needed work that felt like something. The one thing I’ve always been sure of? I love animals. When a local pet sitting company posted they were hiring, I jumped—no questions about titles or pay. I just needed to feel useful again.

Those first days, I traded fluorescent lights for front porches and boardrooms for backyards. I learned the rhythm of a shy cat’s trust, how a nervous dog settles when you slow your breath, the soft thump of a tail that says, “You showed up.” It felt like exhaling after holding my breath for years.

And then came the moments that still make me smile: the shy kitty who finally curled up in my lap, the goofy puppy who celebrated every leaf on our walk, the senior dog who leaned his whole weight against my leg just to be near. Each one left a paw print on my heart and reminded me why I chose this path.

I didn’t step into pet sitting for the money; I stepped into it for meaning. Somewhere between leashes and litter scoops, the fog lifted. I found my health, my humor, and the kind of tired that comes from fresh air and wagging tails—not burnout.

This blog is where I’ll share those everyday stories—the tender ones, the funny ones, and the ones that prove this isn’t just a job. It’s a calling, a passion, and an endless source of joy. Thanks for being here at the very beginning. I can’t wait to bring you along on this journey.

P.S. Got a pet story that makes you smile every time? Share it with me—I’d love to read it.
